No more blog.
I’m going to make my serious blog on Word Press or Blogger and just use Tumblr to waste time and follow my friends. This is the one I use now: http://whynaut.tumblr.com/

MY LIFE AS A MED STUDENT: the real med school.  →
mylifeasamedstudent: Med school isn’t about the grades or the assignments or even about strutting around with a stethoscope around your neck playing pretend doctor. It’s the afternoons spent eating m&ms and reading DamnYouAutoCorrect in the computer labs (that’s for you, mushrooom). It’s the breaks spent in the…

20 Parts of Your Body You Don’t Need →

Minor hiatus.
I’d like to write more about school but it’s rather boring in the summer. I’m looking into foreign medical schools so maybe I’ll write an update about that.

Mild Cartoon Violence
The “Truth” About Violent Video Games We’ve all heard that video games do everything from teaching kids to read, to rotting your brain [what does that mean, anyway], to creating psychopathic killers who can’t quench their thirst for blood and gore. Being a gamer myself, I’ve always wondered if there was some negative effect of video gaming for extended periods of...

Gaming and cycling and work.
Yesterday I went to chill with pals at the local game shop’s board game night. I recently moved, so I was also returning some minced garlic, that I accidentally pilfered, to a friend. We ended up playing Thunderstone, which is a deck building game where you can hire heroes, equip and train them, and venture into the dungeon to vanquish horrible beasts! Oh, there was also free pizza....

Medical Student's Mind: Things Medical Students... →
navamon: Study- Like I said many times before, medical school throws so much information at you that you may find yourself playing a never ending “catch up” game. How do you deal with this? Effective study habits must be in place. What worked for you in high school and undergraduate (like last minute…

Doctors More Likely To Drop Private Insurance Than... →
Medicare is standardized. Private insurance companies are the ones who will pick and choose what to pay doctors. Now that private insurance won’t be allowed to turn certain people away [pre-existing conditions, elderly, etc.] they will have to save money in a different way. Possibly by cutting pay to doctors? Who knows.

Childhood obesity starts sooner than we think.
To Curb Childhood Obesity, Experts Say Keep Baby Fat In Check “Almost 10 percent of babies and toddlers carry too much weight for their size. And more than 20 percent of children 2 through 5 are already overweight.” This article recommends that pediatricians keep track of the child’s weight at each visit. This is not a bad idea; more information is always preferred over too...

Thinking about people who follow my blog. I never thought I’d get even fifty of you. Now that I have over twice my highest expectations I think I’m going to do more original posts and less reblogs. Since I’m planning on becoming a pediatrician down the line, maybe I’ll do some pediatric themed posts — I don’t see a lot of those. In my personal life, I’ve...

First week on the job.
I am a receptionist at an alternative health/chiropractic clinic. Front desk work is not the most interesting, but it is such a friendly environment. There is a foot spa in the lobby and all the doctors and therapists are very kind. It’s basically my job to check people in, verify insurance, and keep the place clean and properly functioning. Acupuncture and other eastern medical practices...
